Working at Solon.

A new employee’s diary of her experience on the job.

The first 100 days. Philippa Sigl-Glöckner, Business Analyst, describes her start at Solon. Unabridged and largely uncensored.

Day 1

Day 1

After a warm welcome and office tour, my morning starts with trainings and introductions. From Consultants to Managing Partners, everyone takes time to personally welcome me and have a short chat. Flowers and chocolate are waiting on my desk.

Day 3

Day 3

From the start, I am encouraged to contribute with my expertise. My first project, the development of an over-the-top strategy for a media company involves a fascinating discussion around different analytical approaches. In the end, we are able to provide the client with new insights and answers crucial to the formation of a future product strategy.

Week 2

Week 2

My second project at Solon has taken me to Sweden. With an international team from our London and Munich office, I am supporting a client in the media industry. The aim is to review the existing business plan and identify a strategy for future growth.

Week 6

Week 6

Major milestones have been achieved and each team member has delivered substantial results. To celebrate these achievements, the Solon Partner on the project invites us to a team dinner.

Week 8

Week 8

My turn to deliver. The supportive attitude of my colleagues and superiors, plus the in-depth guidance from industry specialists throughout the firm, helped me to develop concepts that are of real value to my client.

Day 100

Day 100

After 3 months in Sweden, the project is completed and I return to London. We leave with a big “pat on the back” from the client and with the prospect to return for another project. A new exciting project is waiting for me: developing a global strategy for a mobile operator. And I am arranging my flights to the USA. Solon is sending me for a week of Solon’s New Consultants Training. My summary: A very interesting environment with lots of exposure right from the start.
